As 2025 draws to a close, we want to thank you all for an incredible second year for the Global Observatory of Long-Term Care (GOLTC). This year we have expanded and deepened collaborations and we are delighted to continue to host a thriving community dedicated to advancing long-term care globally. The Interest Groups have continued to grow, providing amazing opportunities for learning across countries, topics and disciplines, and we have explored new ways to share and connect.

Here are some of the 2025 highlights:

  • Webinars: We hosted 34 webinars, including a full-day online event on November 28 to mark the International Day of Care and Support, bringing together leading experts and advocates from around the world. This brings the total number of webinars since GOLTC started to 60. In total there were just over 3,000 registrations to all events!
  • Blog Posts: We have published 14 blog posts, offering fresh perspectives and knowledge on critical long-term care topics.
  • Guides and Profiles: We have published five GOLTC Method Guides and 17 Long-Term Care Country System Profiles, providing practical tools and brief overviews of different Long-Term Care systems.
  • Publications: Our database now has 618 publications, creating a library of resources for the global community.
  • Interest Groups: We have 27 varied interest groups covering key long-term care topics, research methods, specific countries and even one exploring the use of film to communicate the realities of LTC. The interest groups are the real motor of GOLTC and we’d like to thank all the steering group members who make it all happen.
  • Membership Growth: We are now 681 members, with expertise on 133 countries.
  • Research projects: Our searchable project database has 43 projects, feel free to add yours: https://goltc.org/add-new-project/
  • Changing the Narrative on LTC: On 28 November, in collaboration with colleagues in Australia and Chile, we hosted a 14 hour long event exploring positive framings to address key myths about LTC that need busting. 420 people signed up and we will be sharing the videos, slides and summaries in the new year.

Thanks to all of you for another great year, and do get in touch with your ideas for 2026!
