Luz María Peña is a tenured professor in the Department of Economic Analysis and Finance and belongs to the Health Economics Research Group (GIES) of the University of Castilla La Mancha.

Her scientific activity is focused on the economy and health management with special emphasis on the social cost of diseases and the use of economic evaluation of health interventions applied to decision-making, which can offer economic analysis to decision-makers, public and private in the design and evaluation of policies and measures that allow prioritizing resources to achieve an efficient and equitable allocation of them. Since the year she started her professional career (2012), she has published 46 scientific articles, of which, 38 of them are in Q1 or Q2 ranked journals. She has received a total of 1,966 citations, her h-index is 22 and her i10-index is 36. As of January 2018, she has been recognized for a six-year research period by the CNEAI for the 2012-2017 period. In addition, she has been the director of meetings of a scientific nature and invited as a speaker in many others. Likewise, she has participated in 4 European competitive projects (two of which as principal investigator), 2 national competitive projects and 10 projects with different private institutions.

In the teaching part, highlight her participation as a guest professor at IE University. Addicionally, her participation in the Master in Economic Evaluation of Health Interventions and Pharmaceutical Policy of the UCLM, as well as in the master’s degree in Health Evaluation and market access of the Carlos III University, university master’s degree of the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), as well as the supervision of final master’s projects in them and in postgraduate programs in the field of health economics and evaluation of health programs at Pompeu Fabra University.
