Karla Giacomin

I’m a geriatrician from Brazil. I’ve been working as a geriatrician at the Municipal Health Department of the City of Belo Horizonte since 1999, in the Coordination of Health Care for the Elderly. I’m a researcher and professor at Fiocruz, Pontifical Catholic University and Federal University of Minas Gerais. I work in academic societies of geriatrics and gerontology and I’m currently vice-president of the International Longevity Centre- Brazil.
I was president of the Brazilian Council for the rights of older people. During the pandemic of Covid-19, I led the movement of civil society called the National Front for the strengthening of ILPI, which aims to create a LTC policy in Brazil.
I am the president of Cuidadosa / Brazilian Care Association, a non profit organisation, created for promoting a culture of care and policies of care.
