Missing the mark: the effects of abolishing co-payments for social assistance in the Netherlands

Local public provision of social assistance to older individuals can improve well-being and prevent the use of expensive care but needs to be targeted well. This study evaluates a Dutch policy reform that restricted the ability of municipalities to target social assistance using a difference-in-difference approach.
