Tania Burchardt
My interests in long-term care arise from my research on the welfare state and social protection more generally, in particular in relation to poverty and inequality. I started as a research officer in the Welfare State Programme in STICERD at LSE in 1995, on a project led by John Hills on private welfare insurance including long-term care insurance. Thereafter my PhD focused on disabled people’s social inclusion, through the lens of the capability approach. I have subsequently worked on many aspects of inequality, poverty and exclusion, including in relation to adult social care and unpaid caring.
