Andreea Badache
I am a dedicated public health researcher and expertise in epidemiology, disability, rehabilitation, long-term care, and aging policies. My educational background includes two master’s degrees in Rehabilitation Sciences and Healthcare Policy, as well as a PhD in Medical Sciences/Disability Research/Epidemiology. Over my career, I have focused on developing and implementing policies that support healthier, more equitable lives for older adults and individuals with disabilities. My expertise combines public health, epidemiology, and policy development, with a strong emphasis on using evidence-based strategies to inform impactful long-term care and aging policies.
I have been privileged to work with several global health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Joint Research Center (JRC) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Through these roles, I’ve contributed to numerous projects, spanning areas such as assistive technology, aging and nutrition, cancer research, disability, and national policy planning. My work includes the development and revision of, systematic reviews, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that help inform practical and sustainable solutions in aging and disability care.
As an expert in systematic review methodologies, statistics, longitudinal and cross-sectional studies on aging and epidemiology methods and I have conducted over nine systematic reviews, five of which are published, with several targeting high-impact journals such as Nature Aging and The Lancet. I am also skilled in mixed-methods research, quantitative analysis, and stakeholder consultation—critical competencies that I have applied to develop evidence-based recommendations for aging. Additionally, I am a member of several WHO rosters, including those on Aging and Nutrition, Disability and Rehabilitation, Cervical Cancer Elimination, as well as OECD, which have broadened my insights into global health priorities and how they intersect with aging and LTC issues.
Driven by a belief in the transformative power of policy, my work is dedicated to building inclusive, responsive, and high-quality long-term care systems that specifically address the needs of aging populations. I am committed to advancing initiatives that not only promote dignity, independence, and health for older adults but also support their ability to age in place and maintain active participation in society.
