About the Working Conditions and Wages in Long-Term Care interest group
The interest group “Working Conditions and Wages in Long-Term Care” will bring together researchers, academics, policymakers, and practitioners to focus on understanding (determinants of) working conditions and financial remuneration in the health and social care sectors, with a particular emphasis on long-term care. Given that long-term care is a highly labour-intensive service sector, with the majority of workers in the formal LTC system providing personal care services — most of whom are also women – across all regions and countries. The group aims to foster knowledge exchange on the key drivers of working conditions and wages as well as policy approaches to improve working environments, enhance the sector’s attractiveness, and address emerging workforce shortages and other longstanding challenges within and across countries. Thereby, the group’s interest also extends to the informal care sector, which remains a cornerstone in meeting care needs in many countries and may complement and/or substitute formal care services.
The group plans to organize webinars to facilitate engagement with multinational experts, share key research findings, and highlight best practices from different countries.
