Enhancing care home quality using wearable tech and social network analysis
GOLTC Data Science Interest Group webinar
Quality in long-term care facilities is often measured at the care home level. Yet individual experiences in the same establishment can vary meaningfully. How can we capture these differences? Bluetooth enabled devices worn by residents and staff can be used to generate real-time social network data revealing the nuanced dynamics of care. In this webinar, Professor Carl Thompson discuss his and his colleagues’ research on how analysing this data can be used to tailor care plans to improve care quality.
Date: 25 November 2024
The webinar will cover:
- Introduction to the Global Observatory of Long-Term Care and welcome (Adelina Comas-Herrera, Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC), LSE)
- Introduction to the Data Science Interest Group (Sam Rickman, Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC), LSE)
- Presentation: Quality in care homes: How wearable devices and social network analysis might help (Professor Carl Thompson, University of Leeds)
- Discussion and questions: (Chair: Tommy Henderson-Reay, NHS England)
