New report launched from The Family Caregiving Programme on Older Persons and Community Care in Namibia.

The Family Caregiving Programme is the first major programme in dedicated to understanding family care of older persons in the Southern African region. We are delighted to share our latest report Older Persons and Community Care in Namibia. The report examines the contexts of care for older persons in community settings. It outlines the social and economic backdrop of older person households and the forms of state support older persons in Namibia receive, both in terms of state grants, food relief and formal service provision. By drawing on experiences and challenges of community support, shared at community meetings in five sites across Namibia, the report highlights key findings on how community care is experienced in context. The Family Caregiving Programme highlights key policy implications arising from the findings and presents these as opportunities to better understand and support elderly care in community settings across Namibia.
