Alice Spann

Medical University of Vienna

Alice Spann

I hold a BSc in nursing and a masters degree in nursing science from the University of Vienna. Having worked as a nurse for three years at a hospital in Vienna, I decided to get back into academia and completed my masters degree in public health at the University of Edinburgh in 2017. My dissertation focused on older people’s views and experiences with mHealth. In 2018, I joined the international, multidisciplinary Sustainable Care research programme at the University of Sheffield, which investigated how social care in the UK can be made sustainable. In cooperation with this project, I completed my PhD in health services research in 2022. My thesis focused on the potential role of technology to support working carers of people living with dementia. Since then, I have worked on two projects on assistive technology for the WHO alongside my mentor, Prof. Luc de Witte, and as a senior lecturer for nursing. I am currently working as a post doc researcher at the endowed professorship for nursing science at the Medical University of Vienna, researching work and distance care reconciliation.
