Claudia Miranda-Castillo

I am a Psychologist, M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology and Ph.D. in Ageing and Mental Health from University College London (UK). I currently work as a Full Professor at the Faculty of Nursing at Andrés Bello University, as Director of the Millennium Institute for Care Research (MICARE) and as Associate Editor of the journal Aging and Mental Health. I have 25 years of teaching experience in social research methods and gerontology. My research interests focus on psychosocial interventions in people with dementia and their families, needs assessment in older people and mental health in unpaid carers. In 2022, I was listed as one of the 2% most cited authors in SCOPUS, and 2nd most cited Latin American author in Gerontology and Geriatrics. I have been awarded various grants as principal researcher (titles: “Needs and quality of life of people with dementia and their relationship to social, personal and primary informal caregiver’s factors”; “Implementation and evaluation of the effectivity of an evidence-based psychoeducational program in a group of family caregivers of people with dementia: a pilot randomized control trial”; and currently: “Trajectories and predictors of depressive and anxiety symptoms in family caregivers of people with dementia: a longitudinal study”). I am also an expert advisor in several boards within the Chilean Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Development and Family, and I am also a consultant in international boards for research organizations in Cuba and in the USA.
