My name is Daniela Perucca, I’m from Chile, and my background is in Nursing. I am currently a third-year PhD student in Nursing Studies at the University of Edinburgh. 

My project title is: “Workplace Support for Working Family Carers of older adults in Chile: An Institutional Ethnography.”

I worked as a clinical nurse for about 12 years and as a lecturer for seven years in Chile. During this time, I have primarily worked in hospitals and Long-Term Care facilities, leading clinical practices in these settings. Through all these experiences, I developed a deep interest and a broad perspective on informal eldercare and the phenomenon of working family caregivers. Moreover, through my Diploma in Caring for Caregivers at the National University of Colombia, I was able to complement my previous empirical knowledge and develop a more holistic understanding of the phenomenon of ageing and the essential role of the family caregiver, as well as their associated issues.

Similarly, I participated in an institutional intervention aimed at promoting the well-being of working family caregivers, during which I became aware of their specific workplace support needs. Finally, I published some research on this topic during my master’s degree studies.
