Diogo Azevedo

I am a healthcare executive with experience leading healthcare organizations through significant periods of transformation and restructuring. With a proven track record of improving operational efficiency, promoting financial sustainability, and raising standards of quality and patient safety, I am also currently an advisor to the Brazilian Human Resources Association of the Paraná region. My professional career is marked by leadership in private healthcare institutions, where I have dedicated myself to optimizing resources, improving the quality of care, and ensuring sustainability. These skills, developed in an environment of complexity and constant challenges such as the SUS – Brazilian public health care system, are fully applicable and valuable to the dynamics of public or private healthcare management. I have solid experience and in-depth knowledge in developing and executing strategic plans in close collaboration with other directors and boards of directors, ensuring that corporate strategies are aligned with the interests of stakeholders and are effectively executed by the leadership team. I excel at transforming strategic plans into budgetary plans, ensuring the allocation of resources necessary to achieve the desired results. My work is based on constant interaction and strategic adjustment between execution and governance, reinforcing executive autonomy within a framework of shared responsibility and transparency. With over a decade of experience working with various boards, I have developed a pragmatic approach to strategic management and corporate governance, emphasizing the importance of professional maturity and constructive exchange for organizational success.

Research interests

My main focus is on the growing demand for long-term care in the face of an aging population, coupled with the lack of sufficient resources, such as skilled personnel and adequate infrastructure, to meet this demand. In addition, the lack of universal coverage for long-term care and inequalities in access to care are significant challenges that need to be addressed to ensure that all citizens can receive the care they need. The reality of the problem is that without significant intervention, the challenges associated with long-term care can continue to grow, negatively impacting families, the economy, and the health system as a whole. The need to effectively address the demand for long-term care is therefore an issue of critical importance, with far-reaching implications for the health and well-being of the population, as well as for the stability and sustainability of the country’s health system. The challenges presented by the growing demand for long-term care will require innovative solutions and a sustained commitment to investment and reform from stakeholders across the health system.
