Edgar Liu

Edgar is a Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture’s City Futures Research Centre (0.4FTE). He has background in cultural and economic geography. Since July 2021, Edgar is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise’s Healthy Populations and Environments Platform (formerly the Healthy Urban Environments Collaboratory; 0.8FTE July 2021-May 2022; 0.6FTE from June 2022), where he was also its Project Officer between May and December 2023. He joined the University of Technology Sydney’s Institute for Sustainable Futures as a Research Director in January 2024 (0.6 FTE).

His research primarily focuses on assessing the effectiveness of public housing estate regeneration in Australia; multigenerational family housing; ageing in place; and concepts of community and place. He is on the Editorial Board of the Q1 journals Ageing and Society, and was an Associate Editor with the Frontiers in Sustainable Cities’ Urban Energy End-Use section (2020-2024).
