Iris Dežman Burazer

I’m a social worker with valuable hands-on experience, including several years at a crisis center for children and youth. Through this work, I’ve gained insightful perspective on the challenges and opportunities in our field. My passion for using technology to improve social work practices led me to pursue doctoral studies. My research focuses on the use of ICT in social work with young people, exploring how digital tools can improve engagement and outcomes for this group.

Additionally, I’m actively involved in the digitalization of long-term care. My primary interest lies in developing an information system that can significantly contribute to a unified platform. This system aims to be not just technologically advanced, but also a tool for realizing the fundamental values and principles of social work practiced at Social Work Centers.

I’m particularly drawn to action research because it allows me to work directly with practitioners and communities, solving real problems while generating new knowledge. This approach aligns perfectly with my belief in bridging the gap between theory and practice. In the context of long-term care and social services, I’m exploring how we can create an information system that enhances the quality of life for service users, strengthens their autonomy and dignity, and supports social workers in their crucial work.
