Javier García García
Graduate in Social Work from the University of Valladolid (2019). Graduate in Sociology (2025) and Master’s Degree in Social Problems (2021) from the National Distance Education University (UNED). He also holds a Microdegree in Challenges for Societies in the Horizon of Sustainable Development Goals (2022) from UNED and has trained as an R&D&I Project Manager through the GESTIDI programme (10th edition, 600 hours), developed by the Institute for Business Competitiveness and funded by the Regional Government of Castile and León (2022).
He is currently a pre-doctoral researcher in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Valladolid. His main lines of research address ageing and long-term care, poverty, social exclusion, inequality and teaching innovation. He is a member of the Recognised Research Group (GIR) in Applied Social Sciences at the University of Valladolid and of the ‘Healthy Living, Ageing and Longevity’ working group of the CRUSOE NETWORK. At the same time, he is studying for a degree in Psychology at the Open University of Catalonia and a Master’s degree in Applied Social Research Techniques, jointly taught by the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
He has participated in leading scientific conferences both nationally (XV Spanish Sociology Conference, XIV Spanish Criminology Conference, REPS, among others) and internationally (AGECOMM, CIFETS, ESA Research Network, etc.). He has completed academic stays at the Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco and the Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa. He has published articles in prestigious national academic journals (such as OBETS, Global Social Work and RASE, among others) and international journals (such as Social Work Education). He has also actively collaborated in teaching innovation projects (Service-Learning with the elderly) and has been recognised with competitive awards for the development of technological solutions (PROMETEO Awards, 2023 and 2024 editions). He has also participated in European projects (such as Rural Care and VIVEMAIS) and regional projects (A Gusto en Mi Casa and INTecum, among others), as well as in the preparation of reports for the Economic and Social Council of Castile and León. He has also collaborated in studies on the accessibility of housing for people with disabilities and in the evaluation of initiatives against social exclusion in vulnerable areas of the eastern part of Valladolid.
