Katya Sion

Katya is an empirical researcher with her main focus on improving the quality of long-term care. During her PhD within the ‘Living-Lab in Aging and Long-Term care’ at Maastricht University, she developed the narrative method ‘Connecting Conversations’ that assesses experienced quality of care in nursing homes from the resident’s perspective. Katya is currently working at Maastricht University as an Assistant Professor, during which she is pursuing her scientific research on improving quality of long-term care. In addition, she is a linking pin at a care organization where she translates research into practice and vice versa. She aims to bring theory and practice closer together by adopting a theory-based practice-applied approach in co-creation with all relevant stakeholders. Her research is always connected to the care triad, including clients, their relatives, and care professionals.
