Laura Coll-Planas
MD by training. After the medical degree, I combined clinical work in geriatrics with geriatric research in Germany with a grant of the LaCaixa-DAAD and with the “Early-career of the geriatric research fellowship of the Robert Bosch Foundation”. Afterwards, I returned to Spain and worked as researcher at the Foundation on Health and Ageing at the UAB from 2007-2021. From 2021, I conduct my research on ageing with a special focus on loneliness from UVic-UCC at the IRIS-CC. I am also a research advisor in Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili.
I have participated and coordinated several national and European projects. I am currently the WP leader of the intervention studies on the H2020 project called RECETAS: Re-imagining Environments for Connection and Engagement: Testing Actions for Social Prescribing in Natural Spaces. I am also the coordinator of the Erasmus Plus JOIN4JOY, which emphasizes enjoyment and social inclusion to promote physical activity among older people in the community and in long-term care settings.

Research interests | My research focus is loneliness and social connection. My interests are the psychosocial aspects of ageing and I developed my PhD in Public Health on loneliness, social suport and participation among older people from a health perspective. Although my research trajectory has been on ageing, I am currently opening my research to all lifespan. From a methodological perspective, my expertise is on complex interventions and process evaluation using mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative procedures). |
