I am a Reader/Associate Professor of Applied Social Care Research at the University of Kent. I worked with the Personal Social Services Research Unit until 2020 when I moved to the Centre for Health Services Studies. Prior to joining the university in 2008, I held senior research roles within central and local government, the health service and the non-profit sector. I have been principal and co-investigator for a number of projects and collaborations funded by national bodies and international comparative projects spanning 30 countries. Much of my research has focused on person-centred care and community models of support for older adults and people with learning disabilities. I have particular interests in social care policy, service evaluation, workforce, innovation and improvement.
