I have a 20-year background in information science and research within the social care sector (young people, adults, and older people) in the UK, working for SCIE a not-for-profit organisation partially funded by devolved governments. I have led an information team in delivering the first social care NICE guidelines and have conducted systematic, rapid, and scoping reviews on a range of topics for both commercial and local government funders.
In Australia, I have worked with various local government and not-for-profit organisations and currently work at the Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA) within Flinders University. Over the past three years, I have supported evidence-based research by developing the information components of 11 scoping reviews of systematic reviews on diverse aged care topics. I also oversee training and information access support, including the creation of over 600 one-click PubMed searches for the aged care sector, known as the Aged Care Search Collection. Additionally, I curate a monthly aged care systematic review collection and develop resources to help users access curated information across all aspects of aged care.
Working as part of Flinders Filters, I have also contributed to the development of two validated search filters on home care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations in collaboration with external teams. My research interests focus on two key areas: housing and support for older LGBTQI+ individuals and co-production activities that capture the views and experiences of older people.

Research interests | My research interests are broad, reflecting the need to understand all aspects of aged and social care to support the development of research products. Currently, I have a particular focus on information science, research methods, AI, cultural and minority groups, migrant workers, older people’s views and experiences of care, LGBTQI+ housing and care, and workforce development. This covers settings of LTC (home care, residential care) ageing well and retirement communities. |
