Sandra Prew is the National Residential Settings Lead and National ENRICH Coordinator (ENabling Research In Care Homes) for the NIHR Research Delivery Network
Sandra is a qualified nurse by background, celebrating 30 years of NHS service, and has both local and National roles supporting growth in Wider Care Settings. She brings 17 years of research experience across a variety of studies from application to dissemination and has supported research in wider care settings for the last 10 years. Experience with Hospices and Care Homes in becoming research-aware, engaged, and active. She has utilised this experience to support growth in other settings, including Prisons, Local authorities, Schools, and Dental Practices.
Settings leads are a first for the NIHR alongside specialties and include Hospital, Primary care, Community & Residential settings, Residential covers Care homes, Hospices, Prisons and Justice service, Secure Units, Women’s, refugee, and homeless shelters. I am passionate about equity of access to research opportunities regardless of where you reside, mental capacity, or conditions that affect you; you should have the same access to research as everyone else.
