Project Summary
This study is part of the Care Home Evidence-based interventions to Reduce Infection that are Sustainable and Holistic (CHERISH) project and the VIVALDI Social Care (VSC) project based in UK. The VSC project has been co-designed with care home residents and their families, managers and care home staff, policymakers, academics and representatives of the UK care sector. Based on previous experience conducting the VSC study in the UK, the present proposal will facilitate the identification of strategies to support and enhance research within care homes and showcase successful models that can be scaled up and adapted to different contexts. This project will generate valuable evidence on building research capacity within care homes in countries with ageing populations.
Project Aims
This proposal aims to conduct an in-depth exploration of approaches that are used in countries with ageing populations to deliver and support research delivery in care homes.
Project Methods
The study will collect information using one-to-one interviews or group discussions. Participants can choose between these two options according to their preferences and availability. The topics or questions will be the same but adapted to each circumstance. We will invite to participate managers, care home’s staff, researchers, and any other relevant people who want to share their experiences of taken part in research in care homes if the meet the following criteria:
– At least 18 years old
– Have worked or are still working in care homes or in the care home sector
– Took part in research in care homes in countries with a large number of older adults
– Can speak and understand English or Spanish or have access to an interpreter to aid the interview or group discussion.
