About the Strengthening Responses to Dementia Interest Group
This group aims to share learning on conducting research to inform policies to strengthen responses to dementia, building on the experience of the initial STRiDE Dementia project in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico and South Africa, and on related projects in the same or other countries. The “STRiDE” approach involves people with dementia, carers, policy-makers, care providers in co-developing research and policy priorities, analysing the existing health, long-term care and social protection systems to identify opportunities to strengthen care systems, and research help understand knowledge about stigma as well as attitudes and dementia and stigma, prevalence of dementia, use of different care, treatment and support resources, economic costs of care, and estimating the resources needed to improve care, treatment and support.
