ESSENCE (the Economic and Social Science Evidence in Social Care https://essenceproject.uk/) is a free online resource that brings together economic evidence on adult and children’s social care interventions for use by decision-makers, commissioners, policymakers, and researchers. Further details about the toolkit, current work and outputs are available at https://goltc.org/projects/goltc-1706988356/.

As part of the next stage of development for ESSENCE (2025–2028), we want to gather insights from across GOLTC to help identify new, emerging, or particularly important social care interventions that may be suitable for inclusion in case summaries and modelling work. Although our focus is currently the UK, we would welcome relevant international evidence to inform UK practice.

We would be very grateful if you could share your thoughts on interventions you consider important or promising. We are especially interested in interventions that:

    • have strong or growing evidence of effectiveness, even if economic evidence is limited or unavailable; and/or
    • are new, innovative, or increasingly used in practice, across any area of social care (e.g., learning disability, homelessness, dementia, children’s social care, carer support).

In addition, we would welcome recommendations of colleagues or contacts with expertise in particular topic areas who would be well placed to advise us on promising interventions.

ESSENCE also aims to feature and promote ongoing research in the field of social care. If you are aware of any recently published or ongoing studies/projects that you feel could benefit from wider visibility through ESSENCE, please do share these with us as well.

If helpful, information can also be submitted through the ESSENCE website’s evidence submission form, available at: https://essenceproject.uk/submit-new-evidence/.

Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions you are able to share.

Please feel free to share suggestions in any format that is convenient with either Michela Tinelli (M.Tinelli@lse.ac.uk ) or Shailey Gokhale (S.Gokhale1@lse.ac.uk).
