The Changing Long-Term Care Landscape in Australia

GOLTC Australian Long-Term Care Interest Group webinar

Date: 11 June
Australia is currently undertaking a significant structural transformation of its aged care system, shifting towards a rights-based model that prioritises the dignity and choice of older Australians.
This inaugural webinar of the Australian Long-Term Care Interest Group (ALTCIG) brought together academics, policymakers, and sector stakeholders to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and potential impacts of implementing these reforms across the sector. The webinar explored the vision underpinning these legislative shifts and their implications for the care economy.
The webinar covered:
  1. Australia’s Aged Care Transformation: From Systemic Failure to a Rights-Based Future (Dr. Karen Watson, University of Sydney)
  2. Rights-Based Approach of the new Act and Regulatory Operations (Gary Rake (Deputy Commissioner, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission)
