This seminar will explore how different models of home-based care for older persons are structured and operate in the Global South. Drawing on examples from Brazil and South Africa, the discussion will highlight the critical role of home-based care provision in supporting family caregivers. By comparing models, the speakers will reflect on how various approaches shape the experiences and wellbeing of family caregivers. While formal home-care services remain limited in much of the Global South, the seminar will also consider the sustainability of specific models in diverse social, economic, and policy contexts. With few public home-care services, the burden is shifted almost entirely to families.
