Australia is currently undertaking a significant structural transformation of its aged care system, shifting towards a rights-based model that prioritises the dignity and choice of older Australians.
Join us for the inaugural webinar of the Australian Long-Term Care Interest Group (ALTCIG), which brings together academics, policymakers, and sector stakeholders to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and potential impacts of implementing these reforms across the sector. The webinar will explore the vision underpinning these legislative shifts and their implications for the care economy.
The webinar will cover:
- Australia’s Aged Care Transformation: From Systemic Failure to a Rights-Based Future (Dr. Karen Watson, University of Sydney)
- Rights-Based Approach of the new Act and Regulatory Operations (Gary Rake (Deputy Commissioner, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission)
- From Aspiration to Action (Natalie Siegel-Brown (Inspector General of Aged Care)
- Discussion: How can a rights-based approach drive real improvements in care quality while strengthening capability and sustainability across the sector?
Moderator: Dr Nicole Sutton
