Project Summary

Strengthening Responses to Dementia in Developing Countries (STRiDE) led by the LSE was a four year project in 7 different countries (India, Brazil, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, South Africa and Jamaica) comprising ten different work packages. This project examined current practice, both at a national level and for individual families, both to help people living with dementia to live well, and to ensure that family and other carers do not face excessive costs that could impoverish them or compromise their own health. In addition to building research capacity, a core activity of the project was to understand the impacts of dementia in various cultural, social and economic contexts to support development, financing, planning, implementation and evaluation of National Dementia Plans.
